Commemorative 50 paise coins


Jawaharlal Nehru commemorative 50 paise coin (Legend in Hindi) , 1964
As the name of the national leader was inscribed on the commemorative coins in English, but not in the national language Hindi, it was strongly protested throughout the country and the minting of the coins with legend in English were stopped and a new 50
paise coin with the similar design but with the legend in Hindi was issued in Nov 1965.

Gandhi Centenary commemorative 50 paise coin, 1969

On the occasion of birth centenary of M.K. Gandi (Mahatma Gandhi), the father of the nation, a set of 4 commemorative coins in the denomination of Rs. 10, Re. 1, 50 paise and 20 paise were issued. These coins were issued on 3rd October 1964.

Development Oriented ( Grow More Food ) 50 paise Coin, 1973
To make the country self sufficient in regards to food supplies a 50 paise coin showing the slogan “Grow More Food” both in English and Hindi was issued on16th August 1973. The other two coins in the denomination of 20 rupees and 10 rupees were issued as proof specimens.

National integration issues 50 paise coin,1982
To stress the need for communal harmony and to aware the people that the different states and its people are the integral part of our country India, a 50 paise coin with the theme “National Integration” was issued in April,1985. Out of the other 3 coins issued on the same theme, the 2 rupees coin was issued for regular circulation and the 100 rupees & the 10 rupees coins were issued as proof specimens.

RBI golden jubulee commemorative 50 paise coin, 1985
The RBI was established in India on 1st April, 1935. To commemorate the golden Jubilee of RBI in 1985,
a 50 paise coin, with the “tiger under a palm tree” , the crest of RBI and with the legend “Reserve Bank of India”, was issued in December,1982. The other 3 coins in the same theme, were issued in the denomination of 100 rupees, 10 rupees and 2 rupees as proof specimens.

Indira Gandhi commemorative 50 paise coin, 1985
Indira Priyadarsani Gandhi was the Prime minister of India for four terms. She was assassinated on 31st October, 1984..To pay homage to this dynamic leader, India issued a 50 paise coin featuring her effigy on the obverse. Out of the other 3 coins issued in her commemoration, the 5 rupees coin was issued for regular circulation and the 100 rupees & the 20 rupees coins were issued as proof specimens.
